The Valley Behind Avakas Gorge
This is another shot of one of our favourite parts of Cyprus. We've come a bit further west here though, so we can see more of the Valley towards Lara Bay. In that direction also lies Avakas Gorge, but you can't really see it from here.

This is one of our favourite spots in the whole of Cyprus. Now part of a nature trail, it has always provided us with breathtaking views as we head down from Pano Arodes.

View from one of the plateaus behind Avakas Gorge.. To get to this particular plateau you need to drive up from the Avakas Gorge car park, or down from the direction of Pano Arodes. The route from Avakas will require a 4x4. Any vehichle will do from Pano Arodes, provided you drive carefully. The views up here are stunning, and it is incredibly peaceful, if you don't mind goats.

We love exploring the Akamas in our trusty 4x4. On this particular occasion, we were looking for views of the Avakas Gorge from above. We managed to miss the gorge, but the beauty of the Akamas is such that wherever you end up, there will always be something worth looking at. On this particular day, we found a lovely old tree.

Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
